Rock thrown through window of Effort United Methodist

State police at Fern Ridge are investigating a criminal mischief incident that happened between Feb. 21-24 at the Effort United Methodist Church, 178 Merwinsburg Road, Chestnuthill Township.

Police said they were called there at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 24 when it was discovered someone through a rock through a church window .

The estimated damages are $300.

Last week, the church located next to the Effort United Methodist Church was vandalized, resulting in $1,000 worth of damage.

The incident occurred between 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effort.

Police said someone spray-painted graffiti on the aluminum siding of the church at 164 Merwinsburg Road.

The graffiti included the phrase “Arbeit macht frei,” a German phrase meaning “work sets you free,” a slogan known for appearing on the entrance of Nazi concentration camps.

Anyone with information on the incidents is asked to contact state police at Fern Ridge at 570-646-2271.
