Ross Twp. to host free concerts in the park

Published November 05. 2019 11:43AM

Ross Township will host a summer concert series in its park next summer.

“If any bands are interested in playing, they can contact the township office,” said Vice Chairman Tina Drake during Monday’s monthly supervisors’ meeting.

Tentatively, concerts will be held the second Sunday of May, June, July and August from 2 to 5 p.m.

In August, the band Now Serving performed a free concert in the park, and audience members watched from the picnic tables and lawn chairs.

“We need to start planning these concerts now,” Drake said.

The 2020 concerts will also be free to the public. Expenses will be paid from the general fund and any voluntary donations collected during the concerts.

In other business

• The supervisors will meet Nov. 11 to review its stormwater ordinance.

• The supervisors will get bids to fix the slates on the Flyte Schoolhouse roof.

• Discussion continued regarding repair of the garage on Kunkletown Road, which is not in use, or tearing it down. Chairman Howard A. Beers Jr. said he would get some prices on a pole building if they decide to tear it down and replace it. Drake was in favor of taking it down since there is nothing stored inside. The garage needs new shingles and has no concrete floor.
