Route 248 resurfacing project daytime paving in Northampton County completed
The daytime paving work of the Route 248 resurfacing project in Northampton County has been completed.
Reached Friday afternoon, PennDOT spokesman Sean Brown said any additional work to that stretch of roadway would take place at night.
“Today (Friday) was the last day of day work, and they do have night work next week, and that should conclude the project,” Brown said.
That should come as welcome news to motorists, as drivers reported waiting nearly an hour in construction traffic on Wednesday.
The 248 resurfacing project is one of several roadwork projects that are simultaneously underway, along with the 248 bridge in Carbon County, and the Main Street Bridge in Slatington/Walnutport.
Brown said the Slatington/Walnutport bridge remains on schedule to be open on or before Oct. 20, while the 248 bridge in Carbon County is still scheduled for a December completion.

There are a few sections of road east of EAG on the east lane that need a top coat. I know this because I just spent two hours on rt. 248 going from Easton to Lehighton. I had to laugh, you spend 25 minutes going thru the construction the Lehigh Twp., then travel literally 50 feet to a construction site near Palmerton.
And don't think that going North on rt. 209 in Monroe co. then South on Rt 33 will save you any grief. One lane closed in Polk on rt. 209 for the next few months, then the multi-year disaster at the Rt 33 and Rt. 22 interchange in Bethlehem Twp. will get you there in twice the normal time.
I guess there is confusion between last Friday and this Friday.
