Rush approves $355K road project
Rush Township will spend more than $355,000 on this year’s road improvement project.
The township’s board of supervisors on Thursday unanimously agreed to award Franzosa Trucking Inc. the 2018 road improvement project bid in the amount of $355,413.
It includes work to Ortega Road, Welsh Road, Elmore Street, Holland Street, Lynwood Street, Hometown Avenue, the Hometown Avenue intersection, Miller Avenue, Mariner Street, Grove Street, Miller Street and the Cumberland Avenue trench.
Resident’s concern
Resident Bill Boyer once again asked supervisors when the township planned to open up Walnut Street.
Board Chairman Shawn Gilbert told Boyer the matter wasn’t at the top of the township’s list right now.
Gilbert said the township’s priority right now are the paved roads.
Supervisors told Boyer it could take some time before the township gets a chance to fix the road.
Other action
Supervisors also took the following action:
• Granted waivers from the township subdivision and land development ordinance sections as recommended by the township planning commission for the Krause minor subdivision plan.
• Approved the Krause minor subdivision plan.
• Authorized advertisement for bids for the 2018 equipment rental with operators contract.
• Adopted The Fair Housing Resolution.
• Announced the offices will be closed on July 4 for the holiday, and that week’s Friday garbage collection will be picked up on Saturday.
• Announced that the monthly meeting originally scheduled for 7 p.m. July 19 and has been changed to 7 p.m. July 12.
