S. Hill traffic stop nets drug arrest

Steven Jaramillo, 21, of the 200 block of E. Phillips Street, Coaldale, was arrested by Summit Hill police on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop made by an officer on Feb. 13.

Police said they stopped Jaramillo driving a Volkswagen Jetta on Route 902 because a headlight was not working.

Police smelled an odor of burned marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle yielded two packages of rolling paper commonly used to smoke marijuana and a plastic bag that contained leafy flakes.

Police said Jaramillo turned over to police a “roach” that he had in his pocket.
