Saylorsburg man charged with rape

A Saylorsburg man has been charged with rape.

John Hill, 46, faces charges of criminal attempt — rape; criminal attempt — involuntary deviate sexual intercourse; indecent assault; unlawful restraint; and harassment in a domestic incident.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Cpl. Brian Silliman of the Pennsylvania State Police, and currently assigned as the Criminal Investigation Unit Supervisor at the Pennsylvania State Police Lehighton barracks;

On July 26, the victim told police she was sexually assaulted by Hill between 6-6:30 a.m. July 23.

On the evening of July 26, the victim obtained an emergency Protection From Abuse, which was served on Hill at the residence.

Hill is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing at 11 a.m. Aug. 31 before District Judge Colleen Mancuso of Brodheadsville.

He is currently free on $10,000 unsecured bail.
