Pleasant Valley picked up field hockey and girls soccer victories, while Tamaqua posted wins in both girls and boys soccer to highlight Thursday’s scholastic sports action.

FIELD HOCKEY

Palisades-No. Lehigh

Northern Lehigh got goals from Hallie Krasenics, Olivia Romig and Madison Posivak in a 3-1 Colonial League win over Palisades.

Brooke Nonnemacher and Haley Evans each had an assist for the Bulldogs.

Northern Lehigh outshot Palisades 11-2.

Pleasant Vy.-Allen

Pleasant Valley received goals from Anna Henriksen-Shea and Julia Butchoski in a 2-0 win over Allen.

Meara Hanyon added an assist for the Bears.

Emma Strohl (four) and Kendyl Ramsey (one) combined for a five-save shutout.

Moravian-Northwestern

Moravian Academy posted a 2-1 Colonial League overtime victory over Northwestern with the game-winning score coming seven minutes into the extra period.

Rachel Koerner scored the lone goal for the Tigers with an assist from Sydney Derr.

Northwestern is now 5-5-1 on the season.

VOLLEYBALL

Lourdes-Panther Vy.

Panther Valley rolled to a Schuylkill League win over Lourdes.

Sarah Zabroski dished out 16 assists and finished with seven aces, three digs and two kills for the Panthers. Olivia Dacey (12 digs, eight kills), Rachelle Filer (14 kills), Jenna Dubosky (six kills, three digs) and Gianna Steber (eight assists, three aces) also had strong performances.

Pine Grove-Tamaqua

Pine Grove swept Tamaqua in Schuylkill League action, 25-9, 25-15, 25-9.

Ella McLaughlin had 12 digs and one ace for the Raiders. Emily Amershek added two kills, one ace and one dig.

Pine Grove also won the JV match, 2-0.

So. Lehigh-Northwestern

Southern Lehigh swept Northwestern in a Colonial League match 25-8, 25-8, 25-10.

Ashley Bennicoff had three assists and two kills for the Tigers. Shante Duminie recorded three kills, Jovina Fager had four digs, and Megan Corke had five digs.

Pottsville-Lehighton

Pottsville swept Lehighton in a Schuylkill League Division 1 match 25-12, 25-12 and 25-16.

Lillian Brown had 20 digs for the Indians, Samantha Banning had three aces and 15 kills, Sydney Vincent added three kills and two digs, and Alyssa Frey had 11 assists.

Marian-Blue Mountain

Blue Mountain took all three sets from Marian in a Schuylkill League match, 25-10, 25-20, 25-18.

Antonina Zeleniak had 12 digs for the Fillies, Macie Mazaluski had six kills and seven digs, and Tatianna Zeleniak had 14 assists.

GIRLS SOCCER

Freedom-Pleasant Valley

A second-half surge lifted Pleasant Valley to a 3-2 win over Freedom in Eastern Pennsylvania Conference play.

Alexa Clark, Danielle DiMarco and Autumn Castro all scored for the Bears, who trailed 1-0 at the intermission. Castro and Teah Cardoza both recorded assists.

Samantha Merklin made seven saves for PV.

Tamaqua-Lehighton

Emma Kuczynski led Tamaqua with two goals in its 4-0 Schuylkill League victory over Lehighton.

Katelyn Rudy and Lizzy Wagner each had a goal for the Blue Raiders. Baylee Reinhardt made three saves in the shutout win.

Tamaqua improves to 6-3, while Lehighton falls to 1-8-1.

Jim Thorpe-Blue Mountain

Schuylkill League front-runner Blue Mountain defeated Jim Thorpe, 5-0.

Division 1 college recruit Kylie Kutz had a hat trick for the Eagles. Abree Lewis scored twice.

Blue Mountain had a 23-2 advantage in shots. Olympian goalie Kate Bos made 18 saves.

BOYS SOCCER

Tamaqua-Catasauqua

Tamaqua’s Nathaniel Noftz scored two goals in a 5-2 non-league win over Catasauqua.

Mason Dolinsky, Tyler Steiglerwalt and Jacob Rudy also scored goals for the Blue Raiders.

Tamaqua improves to 9-1 on the season.

Blue Mountain-Jim Thorpe

Blue Mountain posted a 4-1 Schuylkill League victory over Jim Thorpe.

Carlos Colindres had a hat trick for the Eagles.

For Jim Thorpe, Jack Morris got the lone goal on an assist from Robbie Renode.

Blue Mountain goalie Blake Lipko had nine saves. Kinglsey Ehling made 10 saves in the Olympian net.

Pleasant Vy.-Freedom

Freedom got goals from Daniel Ramirez, Bradley Turocy and Peter McGibbon in a 3-0 victory over Pleasant Valley.

The Bears remain in second place in the District 11 Class 4A rankings at 9-3.

GIRLS TENNIS Blue Mountain-

Pottsville-Jim Thorpe

Jim Thorpe split a rain-shortened doubleheader with Blue Mountain and Pottsville. Blue Mountain defeated the Olympians 5-0. Jim Thorpe won 4-0 over Pottsville before the rains came.

Leanne Van Essendelft and Kaitlyn O’Neil both scored singles victories for Jim Thorpe against the Crimson Tide.

No. Lehigh-Moravian at Palmerton

Northwestern won four out of six matchups on the boys side during a multi-team meet at Palmerton. Northern Lehigh went 1-5 and Palmerton was 0-6.

The Bombers did have the top individual runner as Jacob Martinez won on his home course with a time of 18:45. RJ Zack finished fifth to lead Northwestern, while Preston Kemery grabbed a sixth-place finish for Northern Lehigh.

On the girls side, Northwestern went 4-1 on the day with Northern Lehigh going 2-3. Northern Lehigh’s Reagan Pender took the overall victory at 21:37. Northwestern’s Sarah Suplee and Alyssa Zack finished fourth and sixth, respectively.
