Published February 06. 2020 12:33PM

Cap EWG, of Orwigsburg, will continue to handle mixed-glass recycling for Schuylkill County, at a rate of $12 a ton. During a meeting Wednesday, the Schuylkill County Commissioners approved the three-year pact, which runs from Nov. 1, 2019, through Nov. 1, 2022. It’s the same rate at the prior three-year contract.

In November, the commissioners approved a one-year contract with Cougle’s Recycling, Hamburg, to pick up the county’s RMP (mixed magazines, junk mail and phone books) and commingled plastics, at rates of $60 a ton for RMP and $20 a ton for plastic. The RMP, plastic and mixed glass recyclables are generated from the county’s 16 drop-off sites.

In other action the commissioners approved:

Advertising for bids for cleaning county office buildings at 410 and 420 N. Centre St., in Pottsville. Bids will be received until 3 p.m. Feb. 24 with a tentative award date of March 4.

Advertising for bids for solid waste disposal for five locations, the courthouse, adult probation, solid waste STS, 420 Human Services building and Mahanoy Senior Center. Bids will be received until 3 p.m. Feb. 24 with a tentative award date of March 4.
