Schuylkill commissioners approve changes

During a meeting Wednesday, the Schuylkill County Commissioners laid the groundwork for upcoming changes throughout the county:

Approved certification of county funds for the purchase of agricultural easements. The amount is $56,720, which includes $50,000 allocated in the 2019 county budget, plus $6,720 collected from Clean and Green program tax penalties.

Ended the lease between the county and East Brunswick Township for a county drop-off recycling site. The site was located at 35 W. Catawissa St., New Ringgold. The borough of New Ringgold evaluated the program and opted to end the lease as of Jan. 7. County-owned property will be removed from the site by Jan. 25. Locations of county drop-off recycling sites are listed through the county courthouse website, office of waste management.

Extended the existing service agreement between the county and the Schuylkill County Transportation Authority for one year, from Jan. 15, 2019, through Jan. 15, 2020.

Approved a polling site change for Eldred Township, from the Mahantongo Fire House to the Evangelical Congregational Church, 247 Zion Church Road, Pitman.

Approved Controller Christy Joy’s Retirement Board report. The total market value of the retirement fund as of Jan. 15 is $130,441, 321. At the end of December, the total value of the account was $126,737,788.
