During a workshop meeting Wednesday, the Schuylkill County Commissioners awarded two bids and rebid a separate project.

Spotts Brothers Inc. of Schuylkill Haven was awarded a $98,000 bid to reroof the county archives building and public entrance of the county courthouse. The other bidder was Budget Renovations & Roofing, Shamokin, at $108,421.

T & T Window Cleaning LLC of Plains, was awarded a three-year contract for window cleaning for the Courthouse, Children & Youth building, Human Services building and 911 Center. The cost for each year will be $5,475, or a contract total of $16,425.

The commissioners are again advertising for bids to replace window blinds for all courtrooms, hearing rooms, identified chambers and hallways on the second and third floor of the courthouse. The board had sought bids in early March, but rejected all bids received at that time.

Bids will be received in the controller’s office until 3 p.m. June 17, and opened 9 a.m. June 19 in the commissioners’ board room, with a tentative bid award date of June 26.

In other action the commissioners approved:

• Ann Dudish, Recorder of Deeds, to attend the Pennsylvania Recorder of Deeds annual conference in Seven Springs in June.

• Children & Youth, purchase of service agreement for site supervision at a rate of $12 per hour for the following: Trent Barnes, Kolby Kleckner, Caitlin Coyle, Alyssa Kondrak and Kyle Eckley, all of Pottsville; Jenna Porter, Orwigsburg; Eric Rooney, Ashland; Joe Costa, Frackville, and Emily Mealy, Minersville.

• The theme for National Drinking Water Week, May 5-11, is “Protect the Source.” Pat Caulfield, executive director of the Schuylkill Municipal Authority and Amy Batdork, assistant executive director of the authority, joined the Schuylkill County Commissioners to recognize the week.

“Clean drinking water and clean waterways are of vital importance to all of us, as Americans and humans,” Caulfield said.

The Schuylkill County Municipal Authority serve 26 municipalities, and is a member of the American Water Works Association.
