Schuylkill commissioners seek bid, award contracts
The Schuylkill County Commissioners are seeking bids for re-roofing over the archives building and public entrance at the courthouse.
The commissioners approved advertising for bids during a meeting Wednesday. Interested bidders must attend a mandatory pre-bid meeting on site at 1 p.m. April 4. Bids are due by 3 p.m. April 15 and will be publicly opened April 17. Tentative award date is April 24.
In other action, the commissioners awarded a $35,565 contract to Ondra-Huyett Associates, Allentown, for an ADA renovation project for the bathrooms in the Tamaqua municipal building. The money will come from Community Development Block Grant funds.
AMC Enterprise, Frackville got a contract for $24,848 for a demolition project at 15 North Main Street, Shenandoah. The money will come for CDBG funds.
Friends of Schuylkill Parks and Recreation will receive $44,017, according to information provided by Director of Finance Paul Buber.
Buber explained that annually, the Schuylkill Community Foundation provides the funds through an endowment, which is given to the county for the Friends of Schuylkill Parks and Recreation group.
After the meeting, Buber said that the county budget anticipated $38,000 for the Schuylkill Community Foundation, based on the previous year’s money. However, the endowment investment fund performed better than expected.
Buber said that the group uses the money for management, operations and projects at county parks.
