Schuylkill contracts for on-site scanning
During a meeting Wednesday, the Schuylkill County Commissioners approved a contract for on-site scanning of mortgage books on behalf of the Recorder of Deeds office.
After the meeting, Recorder of Deeds First Deputy Marcie Schultz explained that the process — scanning printed documents regarding deeds and mortgages — has been ongoing.
“Everything that’s done now is scanned into the system immediately, and we’ve been working back to scan older documents,” Schultz said. “The deeds and miscellaneous information have been scanned back to 1949, but the mortgages have only been scanned back to 1983.”
Schultz said that the new contract should enable the mortgage records to be scanned back to 1955.
The commissioners contracted with Avenu Insights and Analytics, which will perform the work at the county courthouse. The $218,535 contract runs from July 1, 2019, through June 30, 2020, and includes scanning of mortgage books, image enhancement of digital books and index mortgage book documents.
In other action the commissioners:
• Awarded a three-year, $22,140 contract to Reading Elevator Service to maintain the three courthouse elevators for the period of Nov. 14, 2019, through Nov. 14, 2022.
• For the county’s 911 Communication Center, approved a 36-month lease with Dell Financial Services, through Candoris Technologies of Annville, for the purchase of CAD hardware, beginning Nov. 13, 2019, at a cost of $7,639 per quarter.
