Schuylkill County court – DUI
Schuylkill County President Judge William E. Baldwin dealt with two people who were charged by local police with driving under the influence.
Both offered guilty pleas, and were ordered to pay court costs and fees.
Kimberly Hons, 38, of Mahanoy City, was charged by McAdoo police with DUI, third offense, DUI: controlled substance, failing to drive at a safe speed, and careless driving on Dec. 31, 2015.
Baldwin sentenced her to 18 to 36 months in the county jail on the DUI-controlled substance charge, with credit for the 231 days she’s already served.
He fined her $2,500, and ordered her to complete Alcohol Highway Safety School and comply with any treatment recommended by the probation department.
The state Department of Transportation will suspend her license for a period of time.
Baldwin also ordered Hons to perform 10 hours of community service.
There was no penalty for the speeding charge, and the remaining charges were dropped in plea negotiations.
Elez Adzemovic, 26, of Hazleton, was charged by McAdoo police with three counts of DUI under a controlled substance, and one of improper sun screening.
Baldwin sentenced him to 72 hours to six months in the county jail on one count of DUI, fined him $1,000, and ordered him to complete four to five months of outpatient substance abuse counseling and perform 10 hours of community service.
The remaining charges were dropped in plea negotiations.
