Schuylkill County court

Schuylkill County judges have sent to jail four people charged by local police. All were also ordered to pay court costs and fees.

Renato Natal, 41, of Tamaqua, was charged by borough patrolman Christian T. DeAngelo with retail theft on March 23.

Judge James P. Goodman sentenced him to three to 12 months on house arrest with electronic monitoring.

Natal was also ordered to submit a DNA sample. His sentence begins on Dec. 20.

Kathy D. Tonkin, 22, of New Ringgold, was charged by DeAngelo with two counts of intent to possess a controlled substance, use/possession of drug paraphernalia, and manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver uncontrolled substance on Feb. 27.

She pleaded guilty, and Goodman sentenced her to the 23 days she has already served to 12 months in jail on one count of possession of a controlled substance, and to 12 months on probation on the other charges.

Michael C. Hill Jr., 26, of Tamaqua, was charged by Coaldale police with theft and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, possess.

Goodman sentenced him to the 148 days he’s already served to 23 months in jail with immediate parole, fined him $200, and ordered him to pay $1,929 restitution.

James S. McMurray, 36, of Lehighton, was charged by then-West Penn Township officer Denna V. Krammes with unauthorized use of a motor/other vehicles; criminal mischief-damage property; disregarding traffic lanes; failure to use safety belts; careless driving; failure to notify change in address; criminal mischief; and receiving stolen property on Jan. 18.

He pleaded guilty to criminal mischief-damage property and disregarding traffic lanes. The remaining charges were dropped.

Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin ordered McMurray to serve nine to 18 months in jail; pay $2,600 restitution on the mischief charge. He fined him $25 on the traffic lanes charge.
