The following were sentenced recently in Schuylkill County court.
An Allentown man arrested by Tamaqua police is headed to state prison for four to eight years on a charge of possession of firearm, prohibited firearms not to be carried without a license.
Colin F. King, 47, was arrested by Tamaqua officer Richard Bekesy March 23, 2018, on the firearm possession charges and multiple other charges, including use or possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, driving while operating privileges are suspended or revoked carrying a loaded weapon and exceeding 35 mph in an urban district. In addition to his state prison term, he must also pay $222.50 to Bethlehem Regional Labs and $50 to the CJEA.
King will serve two years on probation for the firearms possession charges, and one year on probation for the possession of drug paraphernalia charge and 15 days on probation for the marijuana possession charge, to run concurrently.
On the driving under suspension charge, fines and costs total $377. He was fined $25 for carrying a loaded weapon. The charge of exceeding the speed limit was dropped.
A woman from New York arrested in Tamaqua for drunken driving was sentenced to 30 days to five years in county prison in a ruling by Schuylkill County President Judge William E. Baldwin March 20.
Etienne L. Leader, 44, Roslyn was arrested by Tamaqua police officer Karl Harig on March 25, 2018, and charged with three counts of DUI/controlled substance and exceeding the maximum speed limit. On the second DUI count, which was for controlled substance schedule 1, Leader must pay $400 to Lehigh Valley Health Network, a fine of $1,000, $75 to MCARE, $50 to the criminal justice enhancement act and $100 to the substance abuse education fund.
She must enroll in the alcohol highway safety school, undergo an 18-month license suspension and perform 100 hours of community service. The other two DUI charges and the exceeding the maximum speed limit charge were dropped.
On March 21, Judge Charles M. Miller sentenced a New Ringgold man to six to 23 months in county prison on charges of possession of a controlled substance. Dustin R. Gernert, 35, was arrested by Leo Securda of the District Attorney’s office Feb. 7, 2018. Gernert will be on probation for six months on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia from the same incident. He may participate in the work-release program, and pay $50 to the CJEA and $100 to the substance abuse education fund.
