Schuylkill drug take back totals

The National Drug Take Back Initiative was held Oct. 26 at 22 drop-off sites in Schuylkill County, according to Sheriff Joseph Groody.

A total of 49 boxes of drugs were collected for a total weight of 771 pounds.

“I want to thank all the departments that participated,” Groody said. “I would also like to give a special thanks to Schuylkill County Drug & Alcohol for all the work they do to support this initiative.”

Here are the totals for the Times News coverage area: Coaldale, one box, 8 pounds; Rush Township, two boxes, 33 pounds; and Tamaqua, six boxes, 116½ pounds. The county Sheriff’s office collected 14 boxes for 248 pounds.
