Schuylkill League Football all-star team named

Lehighton’s Cody Scherer was named the Schuylkill League Division 1 Offensive Player of the Year, while Jim Thorpe’s Dylan Dailey was tabbed Division 1’s Defensive Player and Lineman of the Year.

Scherer and Dailey were two of 18 Times News area players named to the Division 1 or 2 squad.

The Indians led the way locally with seven selections. Besides Scherer, who was named on offense at quarterback and on defense at linebacker. Others honored were TaQuan Bradley-Chambers (running back), Nolan Wentz (center), Dakota Heister (guard), Zack Crum (wide receiver), Chris Whiteman (defensive back) and Brett Gasket (linebacker).

Thorpe placed six players on the team, headed by Dailey at defensive end and punter. Other Olympians were Justin St. Hill (running back), William Munson (tackle), Bryan Dinterman (kicker), Nick Rosahac (defensive back) and Colin Jacobs (linebacker).

Tamaqua had three make the team in Casey Rother (tight end), Nate Boyle (athlete) and Thad Zuber (defensive back), while Marian’s Seth Paluck (running back, defensive back) and Zach Falls (guard, inetrior defensive lineman) made the Division 2 squad.

In addition to all the local players, Lehighton’s Tom McCarroll was named the Division 1 Coach of the Year.
