Schuylkill reviews paving bids
Schuylkill commissioners will choose between two companies bidding for the job of paving the prison parking lot.
They are Ronnie Folk Paving, Shoemakersville, which bid $29,600, and Franzosa Trucking Co. of Hazleton, which bid $32,970.
The prison is on Sanderson Street, across from the county courthouse.
The bids will be reviewed before a decision is made.
In other matters Wednesday, commissioners approved an adjustment to Service Access & Management’s purchase service agreement increasing its 2017-2018 contract to $6,480,192, a total increase of $345,368.
The change reflects an increase in the agency’s allocation adjustment, said Mental Health/Developmental Services/Early Intervention Fiscal Officer Lisa Fishburn.
“We contract all of our services out through SAM,” she said.
Commissioners also approved Treasurer Linda Marchalk’s request to open a new bank account at M & T Bank on behalf of the real estate/engineering department.
The new bank account will be titled “local use funds.”
Commissioners also heard a number of contract increases for the Office of Senior Services, as requested by Executive Director Georgene M. Fedoriska.
They will consider the requests when they meet at 10 a.m. June 13.
Fedoriska said the increases were due to increases in the numbers of clients served. Commissioner Gary J. Hess remarked that more elderly people are staying in their own homes rather than moving into nursing homes or assisted living arrangements.
The increases included $8,244 to the fee for service contract for personal care with Caregivers America of Clarks Summit for a revised contract cap of $128,240; an additional $25,000 to the fee for service contract for personal care with Home Health & Support Services (doing business as Lori’s Angels, Inc. of Auburn) for a revised contract cap of $265,000; an increase of $775 to the fee for service contract for personal emergency response with Automated Security Alert of Munhall, Allegheny County, for a revised contract cap of $9,571; an increase of $3,625 to the program funded contract for center management/in home meal delivery/prep/Apprise/Health & Wellness and Volunteers Serving Seniors with Diakon Child Family & Community Ministries of Allentown.
Among other expenses, the agency needed to upgrade the electrical panel and wiring at the Shenandoah senior community center in the amount of $2,115 to allow for a convection oven to be installed. The total revised contract cap is $1,023,139.
The Office of Senior Services also received commissioners’ approval to enter into a contract July 1 to June 30, 2020 with Advocacy Alliance of Scranton.
The contract includes such services as caregiver check cutting, guardianship, and nursing home transition.
The 2018/2019 contract cap is $17,830 and the 2019/2020 cap is $17,830.
Commissioners also granted approval for OSS to enter into a one-year contract with Preferred Meals of Berkeley, Illinois for congregate and in home meals.
The rate for 2018/2019 is $3.78 per meal with a contract cap of $501,228.
