Several injured in two-car crash in Lehigh Township

Several people were injured during a two-car crash Sunday morning in Lehigh Township.

The incident occurred at 11:30 a.m. on West Mountain View Drive at Maple Drive, according to township police Chief Scott Fogel.

Police said a silver Chevrolet Equinox had heavy damage and a red Toyota Tundra pickup also had heavy front-end damage.

The driver of the Equinox, Leon Borger, 87, Walnutport, sustained nonlife threatening injuries and was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest for treatment.

The Tundra was occupied by three people. The driver, Kim Gehris Jr., said he was driving east on Mountain View Drive when the Equinox pulled out in front of him and they collided.

In addition, two minor-aged passengers in the Tundra also sustained minor injuries and were transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital for treatment.

Lehigh Township Fire Department, Lehigh Township Fire Police and Northampton Regional EMS assisted at the scene.

Police didn’t indicate whether any citations would be filed as a result of the incident.
