Slatington borough council
Slatington Borough Council took the following action on Monday:
• Approved a resolution to seek funding through the Gaming Grant for a potential new firetruck.
• With regret, approved the resignation of tax collector Reta Stein, effective Dec. 31, and announced that candidates who would like to fill the position at that time must be a resident of the borough, and must pass a certification test.
• Agreed to have Lehigh Engineering research parking lot paving up at Victory Park through the potential Keystone Communities Grant Program.
• Awarded a contract to BEI Electrical for water treatment plant surge protection for Phase One in the amount of $4,900.
• Approved the purchase of three Automated External Defibrillators for the borough police department in the amount of $2,607 from Foremost Medical Equipment.
• Tabled advertising an ordinance for blighted properties.
• Approved the supplemental repairs at $400 to police car 602.
• Approved the draft of year 2018 auditors’ financial statements.
• Approved the application for the use of Memorial Park from Assumption BVM Catholic Church from noon to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 12 for Rosary/Prayer Service to honor Our Lady of Fatima.
• Approved the application for use of facilities from Northern Lehigh Student Council for the Homecoming Parade from 5:15-6:30 p.m. Sept. 20.
• Approved a request from Ed Eppler for the D&L Half Marathon on Nov. 3.
• Approved the application for use of facilities from St. John’s UCC for the Annual Peach Festival from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 24.
