Slatington to rent out office space
Slatington borough has some office space available to rent in the municipal building.
At the meeting Monday night, the council members opted to hire a real estate agent to put the space on the multi-list. Bryon Reed, chairman of the council, said he thinks getting it on the multi-list would open it up to more people who might be interested in renting it.
The office space is a large room comparable to the size of the council’s meeting room and can be subdivided into three rooms. The rent is $1,121 per month, and it is currently vacant.
If someone is interested in the office space, then contact the borough for more information.
The council also approved the sale of two vehicles that they had placed on Municibid. The highest bid for the 2007 Dodge Durango was $888, and the highest bid for the 2002 Ford Crown Victoria was $1,650.
In other business, the council accepted the proposal from Water Service Professionals to perform technical and inspection services at the water filtration plant. The cost for the services is $9,180.
“It’s a requirement of DEP (the state Department of Environmental Protection) that we do this,” Reed said. “We may end up with new media.”
Although the water continues to pass filtration requirements for human consumption, the borough has been using the same media for its filtration system for about 20 years, Reed said following the meeting in January. He said the borough’s water is very clean, so it hasn’t taxed the filtration system.
The council approved the purchase of new equipment in January to replace older equipment at the water filtration plant.
One piece of equipment is made by Eagle Microsystems and is used to measure the weight of the chlorine cylinders. It will cost $1,350.
The other is made by Archer Instruments and measures the amount of chlorine in the water. It will cost $3,000. Both pieces of equipment are being purchased from LRM Inc. in Souderton.

Make sure you turn in your tenant information forms each year thereafter.
"Everyone" is required to do this.
Hey... Good idea on trying to reach the most people possible, the same way you did in your search for that Borough Manager's position. That landed you... one applicant?
Well, hey, Dan is the most qualified out of those one.
Nothing ever changes in Slatington.
Reed chaired the water committee for years and spent zero dollars for improvements, upgrades and maintenance. Now he sees the light and wants to fix things.
What an a**backward town.
Did the Bubba inspector give himself another raise to match Dan's paycheck?
Hey Adopted Levite, I enjoyed your comment. It really sums it up.
