Slushy road blamed for Schuylkill crash

Published January 09. 2019 12:49PM

A slushy Schuylkill County road was blamed for a one-vehicle crash that occurred Tuesday at 6:02 a.m. along High Road in Butler Township.

State police at Frackville said Michael J. Pugh, 47, of Coal Township, Northumberland County, was driving a 2017 Toyota Tacoma pickup eastbound when he lost control due to the slushy conditions, while he was negotiating a slight left curve. The truck began to spin counterclockwise, entered the westbound lane and went onto the north berm where it impacted with a mailbox and then a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation road sign.

Pugh was not injured and was wearing a seat belt, troopers said. Pugh was cited for the crash.
