Speed stop leads to DUI charge

A speeding stop has led to the arrest of the driver for driving under the influence and drug counts.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said about 2:28 a.m. they observed a vehicle traveling 80 mph in a 55 zone along Route 115 in Tobyhanna Township. A vehicle stop was made and the driver identified as Mashrur Uddin, 24, of Wilkes-Barre. While speaking with Uddin, officers detected the strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A consent search was conducted and some marijuana was found. Uddin failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for DUI and taken for a blood drawn.

Charges pending include DUI, possession of a controlled substance and speeding.
