State police at Lehighton report the following crashes:
• One of two vehicles involved in a collision at 5:19 p.m. Sept. 27 at the intersection of Route 115 and Meixsell Valley Road in Ross Township required towing from the scene.
Police said the crash happened when a 2006 Nissan Titan operated by an 18-year-old Saylorsburg man attempted to turn left onto Route115 when the driver lost control of the vehicle and it struck a 2009 Subaru Forester operated by Jacqueline Ascencio, 29, also of Saylorsburg.
Police said the Subaru needed to be towed while the Titan was driven from the scene.
• David W. Patterson, 76, of Effort, was cited for a stop/yield sign violation after a crash at 4:45 p.m. Oct. 18 at the intersection of Interchange Road, Route 209, and the Kunkletown Road in Polk Township.
Police said he was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Aveo that attempted to cross Route 209 onto the Kunkletown Road when a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox operated by Beth A. Blackburn, 54, of Lehighton, was approaching, traveling north on Route 209. Police said Blackburn attempted to slow or stop her vehicle but it struck the Aveo in the right rear tire.
Police said the Aveo needed to be towed from the scene while the Equinox was driven from the scene.
Both drivers escaped injuries.
• Andrey B. Smith, 81, of Kresgeville, was cited by state police at the Lehighton barracks after a crash at 11:17 a.m. Sept. 29 on Interchange Road (Route 209) in front of the Kresgeville Post Office in Polk Township.
Police said he was driving a 2002 Subaru Legacy northbound and turning into the post office parking lot and didn’t see a southbound 2003 Ford F150 driven by William R. Carter Jr., 54, of Elkton, Maryland, and the vehicles collided.
Police said Carter and his passenger, Tricia Deaver, 49, also of Elkton, sustained possible injuries and were transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono, East Stroudsburg, by the West End EMS corps.
• Damages were minor in a two-vehicle crash at 8:21 p.m. Oct. 14 on Route 248 in Parryville, near the intersection with Centre Street.
State police at the Lehighton barracks said a 2018 Ford Fiesta entered Route 248 from Centre Street when an eastbound 2017 Toyota 4Runner was approaching and the Feista struck the 4Runner.
No one was injured. Police said both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.
• Christine M. Poli, 54, of Kunkletown, sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle mishap at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 6 at the intersection of Scenic Drive and the Jonas Road in Polk Township, according to state police at the Lehighton barracks.
Police said she was driving a 2014 Nissan south on the Jonas Road when it stopped at a stop sign at the intersection and proceeded to make a right turn onto Scenic Drive. Police said the vehicle crossed the double yellow lines and went into the eastbound lane where it made contact with the rear driver’s side of a 2016 Subaru Outback driven by Emily K. Bittner, 37, of Lake harmony. She was uninjured.
Police said Poli is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance.
Woman unhurt when vehicle hits parked van
A Kunkletown woman escaped injuries when a vehicle she was driving struck a parked vehicle off of Upper Smith Gap Road, Ross Township, at 1:05 p.m. Oct. 19.
State police at the Lehighton barracks said Mildred A. Molino, 67, was driving a 2004 Jeep Cherokee westbound when it exited the travel lane, crossed over the double yellow lines and entered the eastbound lane. It continued to exit the eastbound lane and struck a parked 2002 Ford Windstar, coming to rest against the vehicle.
Police said the Cherokee sustained heavy front-end damages and was towed from the scene. The Windstar sustained front-end damages.
Police said Molino denied emergency medical services treatment.
• Two vehicles collided in an incident at 1:04 p.m. Oct. 20 on Berger Creek Road, East Penn Township, according to state police at the Lehighton barracks.
Police said a 2001 Ford Escape was stopped at a mailbox on the side of the roadway when the operator attempted to cross both lanes when a southbound 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser was oncoming. Police said the Escape struck the rear driver’s side of the PT Cruiser, which traveled off the roadway and landed in the brush.
• State police at Lehighton were summoned at 7:03 p.m. Oct. 11 to Scenic Drive, Polk Township, where a deer entered the path of a vehicle and was struck.
Police said the 2018 Hyundai Accent was westbound when it made contact with the deer. The driver was uninjured.
• Drivers of vehicles that were involved in a crash at 6:57 a.m. Oct. 24 at the intersection of Scenic and Kestel drives in Polk Township were uninjured according to state police at the Lehighton barracks.
Police said a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado approached a 2009 Ford Focus that was coming to a stop to turn right onto Kestel Drive and was not able to stop in time, striking the rear of the Focus and resulting in both vehicles coming to rest off the roadway.
The vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.
• No one was hurt in a two-vehicle mishap at 7:59 a.m. Sept. 26 on White Street in Weissport.
State police at the Lehighton barracks said a 2007 Jeep Commander, traveling west on White Street, attempted to back into a parking spot when a 2004 Ford Focus, also traveling west and behind the Commander, struck the front of the driver’s side of the Jeep.
Both vehicles were able to be towed from the scene.
• No one was injured and damages were minor in a two-vehicle mishap that happened at 7:19 p.m. Oct. 9 on Route 248 (Lehigh Drive) in Bowmanstown.
Police said an unknown vehicle that was involved in the mishap left the scene.
Police said a 17-year-old Palmerton boy was driving a 2003 Dodge Caravan westbound when it was passed by the unknown vehicle. That vehicle quickly changed lanes and in doing so, its right rear struck the right front of the Caravan, causing the minor damages. After the crash, the passing vehicle left the scene.
• Police said Tyler J. Frantz, 27, of Lansford, will be cited for traffic violations after a one-vehicle crash at 5:40 a.m. Sept. 28 on Mill Road in Mahoning Township.
Police said he was driving a 2008 Volkswagen Jetta southbound during adverse weather conditions when the vehicle left its lane of travel, crossed into the northbound lane and struck a utility pole off the east shoulder of the road. The vehicle continued to travel back onto the roadway before coming to rest off the southbound lane of travel.
Frantz was uninjured.
The vehicle sustained heavy front-end damages.
• Paul D. Mastronardi, 58, of Kunkletown, was cited by state police at the Stroudsburg barracks after a one-vehicle crash at 5:23 p.m. Oct. 29 on Route 209 in Hamilton Township.
Police said he was driving a 2013 Ford westbound when it traveled off the roadway and into the grass. Police said Mastronardi could not regain control of the vehicle, causing it to strike a real estate sign and a boulder.
The vehicle sustained damages to its front passenger’s side wheel and fender, as well as the hood.
The driver was uninjured.
