State police at Lehighton
State police at the Lehighton barracks reported on the following traffic incidents.
• Police are investigating a hit-and-run that happened at 7:42 p.m. Feb. 16 on Centre Street in Parryville. Police said an unidentified vehicle, traveling south on Centre Street, left its lane and struck the rear of a 2018 Ford Explorer owned by Tammy L. Hoffman, 47, of Parryville. Police said the Explorer was legally parked off the roadway and was unattended at the time of the crash.
The driver of the unidentified vehicle immediately fled the scene. Hoffman described the runaway vehicle as being a white or gray pickup with a ladder rack on its roof. The Explorer sustained minor damage, police said.
• Brian P. Zale, 36, of Saylorsburg, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 8:30 a.m. Monday on Route 115 in Ross Township. Police said he was driving a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee southbound and was driving at a speed reasonable for conditions of icy roads and slight precipitation. Police said he attempted to slow down when the Jeep struck a patch of ice and went out of control, traveling into the right shoulder of the roadway where it struck a tree.
Zale was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono via the Wind Gap Ambulance after the crash.
• State police at the Lehighton barracks were summoned at 9:54 a.m. Wednesday to White Oak Road, Towamensing Township, after a vehicle backing out of a driveway struck a mailbox on the other side of the road and left the scene. Police later located Lowis M. Felipe, 39, of Allentown, who was operating a 2017 Ford when he hit the mailbox. There were no injuries in the incident.
• John K. Cudak, 25, of Albrightsville, was not injured when a Jeep he was driving struck a PennDOT sign and came to rest partially in a creek. Police said he was operating a 2018 Compass on Route 534 (Scenic Drive) in Polk Township when the incident happened.
• Heidi A. Lloyd, 37, of Kunkletown, was uninjured in an incident at 6:24 p.m. Wednesday on Little Gap Road (Route 2002) in Lower Towamensing Township. Police said she was driving a 2012 GMC that crashed and was rendered disabled, requiring towing. Police said there was wet snow and slush on the roadway at the time.
• Police are investigating an assault case involving bodily harm that was reported at 10:29 p.m. Wednesday in the unit block of Blackberry Lane in Penn Forest Township. The victim is a 50-year-old Jim Thorpe woman. Police said it is alleged Terry Billman, 54, also of Jim Thorpe, shoved the victim and punched her in the left arm and ribs.
• A 43-year-old Jim Thorpe woman, who police did not identify, was issued a citation for allowing her unleashed dog to enter and exit the property of a complainant in Penn Forest Township. Police said they issued the citation after the incident at 5:09 p.m. Tuesday along Unionville Road in the township.
• A Jim Thorpe woman is the victim of a theft that happened in 2018. Police said they were told the incident happened on July 23 of last year along Broad Mountain View Drive, Penn Forest Township, when a suspect stole $240 in cash from within her residence.
Police said the victim told them the theft was not reported at the time of the incident, but is being reported now because of the need for a police report.
No prosecution or further investigation was desired by the victim.
