State police report on Schuylkill County crashes
State police at Frackville reported investigating two crashes on Tuesday on Schuylkill County roadways.
A crash was reported at 7:30 a.m. along Route 209 in Middleport borough. Troopers said Theresa M. Harris, 52, of Tamaqua, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt southbound and lost control while negotiating a right curve. Harris swerved to avoid a deer that had entered the road in front of her. The vehicle went onto the berm and struck a guide rail where it came to rest.
Harris was not injured but the vehicle had to be towed. She was cited for the crash.
The second crash was reported at 10:04 a.m. along Interstate 81 in Ryan Township. Leida M. Figueroa, 50, of Hazleton, was driving a 2000 Toyota RAV4 southbound in the left lane when she veered off the east side of the road and struck an embankment along the center median. After impact the vehicle traveled about 50 feet before coming to rest in the median.
Figueroa was not injured but the vehicle had to be towed. She was cited for the crash.
