Stolen U-Haul truck recovered in Carbon

A U-Haul vehicle that was reported stolen was recovered along Little Gap Road in Lower Towamensing Township at 11 a.m. March 9.

State police at the Lehighton barracks said they were contacted by a representative of the U-Haul Company of America, based in Phoenix, Arizona, that an anonymous caller had contacted its vehicle recovery department to report a stolen U-Haul vehicle at the Little Gap Road location.

When police were asked to go there, they found the vehicle, a 2018 GMC Savana, later confirming that it was vehicle reported as stolen by Walnutport police.

The vehicle was towed and is stored at the state police barracks.

Police said they will be following up with the Walnutport Police Department for potential criminal charges.
