Strike ending at Mack

Published October 25. 2019 08:38AM

The strike at Mack is ending this morning and the United Auto Workers Union 677 representing the workers reports that a contract extension is in place to allow workers to ratify a four-year agreement.

The agreement would cover approximately 3,500 UAW-represented employees at the Lehigh Valley truck plant, Hagerstown powertrain plant, Mack Customer Center, Middletown remanufacturing plant, and Baltimore and Jacksonville parts distribution centers.

The strike ends at 9 a.m. today.

The union said in the statement that the leadership “is working with the company to bring people back to work as soon as possible.”

A staggered ramp up is planned, beginning Monday, with essential employees to ensure a safe start up.

The full industrial system is up and running by mid- to late next week.

It’s about time these lazy bums get back to work. There is nothing hard about working at Mack trucks believe me. Most of them get paid well over $25 an hour was all kinds of overtime and then they want to strike and piss and moan. Most people would love to make that kind of money. They cry that the company is making too much money and they deserve more. Volvo i.e. Mack are the ones that have billions of dollars invested and building trucks and giving these people a job they should be allowed to make as much money as they can what’s the big deal? Go back to work and do your job just like most other people do in America unless you’re a socialist liberal. Oh yeah that’s right most union people are liberals I almost forgot
Oh lord. $25 an hour? That's $52,000 a year.

The average yearly salary in Pennsylvania (all industries) is about $64,000 a year. When you say "most people would love to make that" you are wrong. Most full time employed people make considerably more than that. If you don't that's your problem.

First of all, most of the people that work at Mack trucks are in wage progression starting rate is $19/hour (second shift). AND I would like to see anybody work on the assembly line running airlines or wiring harnesses and tell me they think it’s easy. Clearly, you have no idea what you’re talking about. If you think you could do an alignment on a truck (front and rear) in eight minutes I’d like to see you try. And by the way not everybody at Mack trucks is a liberal, as a matter of fact you would be surprised to know that it’s just the opposite. So if you think it’s so great why don’t you try to get a job there? Or if you’re just plain jealous go get a real job.
