In the spirit of giving, a Panther Valley seventh-grader put together nearly 30 “kits” for families who otherwise might have gone without a Thanksgiving meal.

Chase Krynock, 12, began his collection of canned and monetary donations in October. He came up with the idea for the collection after realizing that not everyone’s holiday table looks like his.

“I was thankful,” Krynock said, adding that he wanted to make sure other families “have what we would have, and so they have a nice meal to eat on Thanksgiving.”

Krynock used flyers and social media to promote his cause. He received help from local organizations, like the Lehighton Lions Club and Mahoning 4-H. Salon Indigo in Lehighton also took donations.

When it came time to distribute the kits, Krynock left his Summit Hill home with 26 black or orange packs in hand. Each sack came equipped with meat, yams, stuffing, mashed potatoes and vegetables.

Krynock said he was “happy to help others,” and he hopes to take the collection on again next year.
