Students from Panther Valley place in reading competition
A group of students from Panther Valley recently took fourth place in a reading competition that pitted them against schools from Carbon and Lehigh counties.
Each year students from across the state compete in the Reading Olympics. This year, schools from the area had a chance to participate for the first time in a regional competition held by Carbon-Lehigh Intermediate Unit 21.
Teams from 17 school districts participated, including Parkland, Northern Lehigh and East Penn school districts.
Students read from a list of books provided throughout the year, and then met to answer trivia questions based on the books.
After finishing the initial competition in a three-way tie, Panther Valley’s team, the “West Point Readers,” placed fourth in a sudden death overtime.
