Summit Hill announces Hometown Heroes project
Summit Hill is recognizing its veterans through a new Hometown Heroes banner project.
The Summit Hill Historical Society recently announced that it is accepting applications for the banner project.
“The banners are meant to honor and recognize the military personnel of Summit Hill,” the society said in a press release.
Veterans can be active, honorably discharged or deceased.
The banners measure 24 inches by 48 inches and are made of vinyl. They will hang along Ludlow and Pine streets from Memorial Day through fall 2018 and then rehung in 2019.
The cost for the banner is $150, and includes the production, installation and removal of the banner.
Each banner will contain the service person’s name, image, military branch, and conflict (if applicable). Veterans to be honored must reside or have resided in Summit Hill.
Those wishing to purchase a banner can do so by submitting an application, which can be found at http://bit.ly/2CFhFVz, at the Summit Hill Borough Hall, by contacting any historical society board members or through the Summit Hill Historical Society Facebook page.
A high-quality photo of the person in uniform should also be included. For complete guidelines for the photo, see the application.
Deadline for the applications is March 1. Checks should be made payable to the Summit Hill Historical Society.
Forms and payment can be mailed to The Summit Hill Historical Society, PO Box 41, Summit Hill, PA 18250.
