Summit Hill passes half-mill increase

Published December 18. 2018 12:17PM

Summit Hill residents will pay a little more in real estate taxes in 2019.

On Monday, borough council adopted its 2019 budget, which calls for a half-mill increase in real estate taxes, bringing the tax rate to 17.1 mills.

This includes 15.1 mills for general purposes, 1.5 mills for street lighting and 0.5 mills for fire allocation.

That means that a homeowner with a house assessed at $25,000 will pay $427.50 in taxes next year.

In other matters, council had an informal discussion on how the borough might take swifter action on delinquent property taxes.

No formal action was taken on that matter.
