Primitivo Alicea Candelaria, 33, of Sunbury, is in the Monroe County Correctional Facility, Snydersville, on drug charges after state police at the Stroudsburg barracks made a traffic stop at 11:44 a.m. Tuesday in Tunkhannock Township and found heroin in the man’s possession.

Police said they stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Interstate 80 westbound and observed indicators of criminal activity. A consent search of the vehicle was granted, after which time police found Candelaria to be in possession of a half-kilo of heroin that was located in a suitcase in the trunk of the vehicle.

He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Richard Claypool and imprisoned after failing to post $100,000 secured bail.
