Support sanctity of life

There is nothing more sacred than the sanctity of life. It is truly a gift that has been provided to every human being on Earth from God — and it becomes a gift that we pass down to our children. Unfortunately, this gift is being taken from countless lives here in Pennsylvania, due to the politicization of the right-to-life issue. There is something we can do about it.

Sen. Doug Mastriano and Rep. Stephanie Borowicz have introduced companion bills in the Pennsylvania General Assembly that will forbid physicians from conducting an abortion if they can determine the baby has a heartbeat.

Thanks to 21st century medicine, more than 90 percent of all pregnancies are viable when a heartbeat can be detected.

We believe relying on this scientific fact will place the focus where it truly belongs — protecting the child.

Please encourage your state legislators to protect all children by supporting Senate Bill 912 and House Bill 1977.

Yet another attempt at a completely unconstitutional law. Roe v Wade makes all laws that ban abortion before viability (defined by SCOTUS as "the "interim point at which the fetus becomes potentially able to live outside the mother's womb") and this is why these heartbeat bills keep getting struck down, even by conservative justices. A heartbeat can be detected as early as 8 weeks, far before the fetus can live outside the womb even with mechanical support. With all due respect to Mr Gnoza he is either intentionally mis-representing the definition of viability or didn't bother to learn it. As Director of Communication of the Catholic Conference I'm guessing it is the former.
Rep. Stephanie Borowicz put it this way, “When you hear a baby’s heartbeat, everything changes,” she continued, “If you can be declared dead when the heart stops why not declared alive when it starts?”

So you must oppose the harvest of organs for transplantation in situations of brain death? Every year thousands of organs are removed from individuals who still have a heart beating but do not have brain activity. This is the ideal situation for donors. The act of harvesting will stop the heartbeat. Against this?

You want to establish heartbeat as the definition of human life but there are many complications in that definition. I raised one, sorry its went over your head.
A fetal heartbeat may first be detected by a vaginal ultrasound as early as 5 1/2 to 6 weeks after gestation. That’s when a fetal pole, the first visible sign of a developing embryo, can sometimes be seen.

Why is it that the same people that will support the statement that "Life is found on another planet" when it is only a 1 or few cell existence deny life on our planet when it is a million cell being with even a heartbeat. Scientist have stated and proven the point that life is started when it is only a 1 cell existence.
