Take back school boards

Dear Editor,

This past Saturday, I read Ruthann Schlecht’s letter to the Editor titled “Where is God in this picture.”

I could not agree with her more. I think the recent Lehighton school board elections back up her point. We can take this argument even further. The majority of young people I see out there are not getting married and they are not having children. Combine this with the census statistics that say Carbon County is decreasing in population.

You have to ask why we are building new, bigger buildings, extra cafeterias, and state-of-the-art plastic football fields? My questions are not limited to the Lehighton School district. Pretty soon they will be telling us we need to build a third bathroom, for the kids that don’t know what gender they are.

The time is overdue for the silent, hard working majority to take back the school boards from the few with an agenda that are driving up our ever-increasing school taxes.
