Tamaqua’s Barrett earns scholarship

Emily Barrett, a senior at Tamaqua Area High School, was one of two students selected to receive the 2019 Schuylkill County Choral Director’s Vocal Scholarship.

Awarded annually to students who excel in vocal music who are planning to pursue a career in music, the scholarships were awarded at the 2019 Schuylkill County Chorus Festival, which was held Feb. 16 at Pine Grove Area High School.

The daughter of Colleen Barrett and Mark Koppenhaver, Emily plans to attend either Immaculata College or Marywood University next fall to pursue a degree in music therapy.
