Relay for Life

The Carbon-Tamaqua Unit of the American Cancer Society will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Relay for Life this Saturday. The 12-hour event will begin at 11 a.m. and finish at 11 p.m. at the Tamaqua Area School District Stadium.

The relay originated as a 24-hour event, but was shortened this year to allow all the participants to enjoy the many activities, rather than catch a few winks or nod off unexpectedly due to lack of sleep.

The event is open to all, whether you want to walk or just share the camaraderie.

The master gardeners have an office at the Schuylkill County Cooperative Extension Office, 1202 AG Center Drive, Pottsville. There, you will find free brochures on hundreds of topics, such as trees, flowers, lawns, garden soil, insects, plant disease and wildlife control.
