A Coaldale man waived a preliminary hearing on sexual assault charges before District Magisterial Judge Stephen Bayer on Jan. 23.
Joseph Arthur Bevins, 24, was charged with indecent sexual assault on a person younger than 16, statutory sexual assault, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, indecent exposure, corruption of minors, photographing or filming a sex act, unlawful contact with a minor for sexual purposes and contact with a minor resulting in sexual abuse.
The charges were filed by Tamaqua Cpl. Henry Woods in connection with a relationship Bevins had that began in 2015. Bevins admitted having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl he met at a party. At the time, he was 22. The relationship lasted through April 2016 and was later discovered by the girl’s mother. She reported it to police in October 2017.
Bevins was returned to the Schuylkill County Prison in Pottsville in lieu of $100,000 percentage bail, where he will await trial in the Court of Common Pleas.
Audrey Warner, 35, of East Broad Street, Tamaqua, waived charges of endangering the welfare of four children to county court. The charges were filed by Tamaqua patrolman Anthony Stanell after she was found passed out on a couch in her home on Jan. 29, 2017.
Warner was released on her own recognizance.
Anthony Powell, 48, of East Adam Street, McAdoo, waived a hearing on charges of retail theft and theft by unlawful taking. The charges were filed by McAdoo patrolman Anthony Divirgilio as a result of a Nov. 20, 2017, theft at the Fegley Mini Mart in McAdoo.
Powell was released on his own recognizance.
Angelina Marie Fisher, 24, of North Nescopec Street, Tamaqua, didn’t go to court for a hearing on charges of simple assault and harassment. The charges were a result of a Dec. 18, 2017, incident and were filed by Tamaqua patrolman Karl Harig.
A warrant will be issued for her arrest.
Michael Maguschak, 19, of Beaver Meadows, waived a hearing on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. The charges were field by McAdoo patrolman Divirgilio in connection with a Dec. 4, 2017, incident.
Maguschak was jailed in lieu of $500 percentage bail.
Thomas Jacob Kehl, 27, of Grier Avenue, Barnesville, waived a hearing on a charge of defiant trespass, filed by Tamaqua patrolman Harig. Kehl was charged after trespassing on posted property on Sept. 24, 2017.
He was released on $25,000 unsecured bail.
Sarah Morgan DeBenedict, 24, of Ardmore Avenue, Tamaqua, waived a hearing on a charge of defiant trespass by communication. The charge was filed by Tamaqua patrolman Harig on Sept. 24, 2017.
She was released on $25,000 unsecured bail.
Samuel R. Snyder, 45, of Hunter Street, Tamaqua, waived a hearing on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia filed by Tamaqua patrolman Richard Bekesy. The charges stem from a Feb. 6, 2017, incident.
Snyder was released after posting 10 percent of the imposed $10,000 bail.
Robert Pupko, 25, of Kelayres, waived two hearings. One was a charge of retail theft from Dec. 1, 2017, while the other was charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia from Dec. 6, 2017. All charges were filed by Rush Township patrolman Ryan Oldt.
Pupko was released on his own recognizance in both cases.
Charges were dismissed or withdrawn for Thomas A. Mundie Jr., Stephanie Parliament and Terrence A. Klodzinski.
