Tamaqua high school presents concert on Thursday
The Tamaqua Senior High School Vocal Music Department will present its annual Spring Choral Program at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday in the Tamaqua Area Auditorium. The concert will feature performances by the high school concert choir and the jazz and concert chorale.
The concert choir will open the evening with “Go Ye Into All the World,” followed by “Agnus Dei.”
In memory of McKayla Wall, a choir member who unexpectedly passed away earlier this year, the choir will sing “Over the Rainbow.”
Students selected to participate in Schuylkill County Chorus this past year will be featured on the gospel tune “He Never Failed Me Yet.”
The jazz and concert chorale will take the stage next singing a wide variety of musical styles and selections. The chorale will begin with “Cindy,” then the spiritual “Precious Lord, Take My Hand” and “The Road Not Taken.” The choir then sings “Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story” from the Broadway smash hit musical “Hamilton.” Staying true to its roots, the jazz chorale closes its set with two jazz standards, “New York State of Mind” and “Take Five.”
The concert choir takes the stage once again to sing a medley from everyone’s favorite musical “The Phantom of the Opera.” To close the concert the choir sings the stirring ballad “Anyway.”
The accompanists for the choirs, which are under the direction of John D. Buglio, are Antonetta Gerace and Faith Roberts.
Admission to the concert is $5 for adults and $2 for children/senior citizens.
Doors to the auditorium will open at 6:45 p.m.
