Tamaqua man faces assault and harassment charges

A Tamaqua man faces assault and harassment charges after an incident that occurred on Jan. 6.

Police were dispatched to Bowe Street for a domestic disturbance. On scene police spoke with the victim, who said that Steven Heffelfinger, 48, was intoxicated, that he yelled at the victim’s young daughter and also that he hit the victim twice in the face.

The victim’s daughter told officers that “he (Heffelfinger) hit my mommy.”

The victim said the right side of her jaw and her head hurt.

Heffelfinger was taken into custody. He was arraigned and straight cash bail was set at $15,000.
