Rush-Ryan seniors
The Rush-Ryan-Delano Senior Citizens met June 12 at the Ryan Township Fire Company with 47 members in attendance with an installation of new officers. Incoming President Robert Neifert conducted the business session.
A moment of silence was held in memory of Merle Andescavage.
June birthday wishes were extended to Bill Morrison.
In addition to Neifert, the newly installed officers include: Mary Reed, vice president; Ruthann Feane, secretary; and Larry Bower, treasurer.
The annual summer picnic will be held July 24 at St. Peter’s Grove in the Locust Valley.
The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at the Ryan Township Fire Company in Barnesville and is open to anyone 55 or older.
Chamber concerts
The Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce continues its 12th annual summer concert series this Thursday with Six To Midnight playing acoustic ’90s and classic rock. The concerts are held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on the platform at the Tamaqua Train Station. All events are weather permitting.
The entertainment will continue throughout the summer months, on select Thursdays. The rest of the schedule includes: July 12, It Takes Two, top 40s and classic good-time oldies; July 19, Shellshocked Churchills, classic rock; July 26, Big and Bad Rockabilly Cats, hillbilly rock; Aug. 2, Buddy Musselman, classic rock and outlaw country; Aug. 9, The Fat Cats, rock ’n’ roll; Aug 16, Magic Stew, classic rock/jams; Aug. 23, The Bees Knees, ’60s rock and the British invasion bands; Aug. 30, Gene Morrison, oldies and the classics.

Tamaqua seniors
The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met June 21 at the Tamaqua YMCA with 43 members in attendance. Vice President Nancy Gerber conducted the business session after opening the meeting with the invocation “The Lovely Month of June.”
New member Sun Lee Malick was given a warm welcome. May and June birthdays will be celebrated at the June 28 meeting. Refreshments were served.
The group is open to anyone 55 or older, meeting at 1 p.m. every Thursday at the YMCA.
Primitive Methodist
Pastor Rick Clemson will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service on Sunday in American Primitive Methodist Church. Sunday school classes are held at 9:30 a.m.
Bible study sessions are held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Hope in the Mountains NFG are held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. every Thursday.
Zion’s West Penn
Zion’s Stone Church in West Penn Township will hold an old-fashioned church social on July 29 at West Penn Community Park. Activities will begin at 11 a.m. and end at 7 p.m.
The day will be filled with games, food, a basket extravaganza, carriage rides and entertainment by the Good News Traveling Band, Erin Raymond and Bill Clause and the Blue Mountain Buckaneers.
The social is open to the community.
Calvary Lewistown
All services and activities for Calvary United Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley will be held at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle through Labor Day.
The Rev. Susan Moore will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday. Sunday school classes meet at 10:25 a.m.
Instead of the weekly Sunday evening service, members are welcome to attend the Auburn camp meetings.
Zion Lewistown
Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. service this Sunday in Zion Church, Lewistown Valley. Sunday school classes will meet at 9:15 a.m.
Upcoming events include OWLS meeting at noon on July 12; Consistory meeting at 6:30 p.m. on July 12.
