Hometown auxiliary
The May meeting of the Hometown Ladies Auxiliary has been canceled.
The next meeting will be the summer picnic, which will be held on June 3 at Basile’s Restaurant on Route 309. Dinner on your own will be at 6 p.m. with the meeting scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Members are reminded to bring a wrapped “white elephant” gift for the bingo games. Drug take back
The Tamaqua Police Department is participating in National Drug Take Back Day this Saturday. The station will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for anyone interested in safely removing old, unused drugs from their home.

Garden gathering
The Schuylkill County Master Gardeners will sponsor the Third Annual Garden Gathering on Aug. 17 at the Demonstration Garden at First United Church of Christ, Schuylkill Haven. The church is located next to the Penn State-Schuylkill Campus.
Hours will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a variety of vendors will be providing cut flowers, perennials, fresh produce, baked goods, artisan works and refreshments.
Day of prayer
Tamaqua churches will celebrate the National Day of Prayer on May 2, beginning with breakfast at 9 a.m. Breakfast will be served in Founder’s Hall at Trinity United Church of Christ, 22 Lafayette St.
Following the meal, participants will move outdoors to the church parking lot, which overlooks the Borough of Tamaqua. The prayer session will be led by various members of the Tamaqua Ministerial Association.
Preregistration was required for breakfast, but anyone is welcome to join the prayer service.

Zion Lewistown
Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. service this Sunday in Zion Church, Lewistown Valley. Sunday school classes will meet at 9:15 a.m.
Game night will be held on April 28, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
A National Day of Prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. May 2.
On April 15, the fundraiser committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. and the preschool board will meet at 7:30 p.m.
Primitive Methodist
Pastor Rick Clemson will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in American Primitive Methodist Church. Sunday school classes are held at 9:30 a.m.
Hope in the Mountains NFG are held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays. This is a Narcotics Anonymous group for families. For more information, call Mark at 570-952-5098.
Bethany EC
The Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 8 and 10:30 a.m. worship services this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church.
Sunday school classes meet at 9:15 a.m. This week the classes will Skype with the Stolzfuss missionaries.
Also on Sunday, the ministry council will meet at 11:45 a.m.; women’s group meets at 7 p.m.
