School concert

The Tamaqua Area Middle School Music Department will present its free annual holiday music program on Dec. 12 in the Tamaqua Area Auditorium. The concert will feature performances by students in the Sixth Grade Band and Middle School general and Select Chorus.

Marsha Rodgers will direct the Sixth Grade Band, while both choruses are under the direction of John D. Buglio.

Doors will open at 6:15 p.m., with the concert set to start at 7 p.m.

Tamaqua seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met Dec. 6 at the Tamaqua YMCA with 51 members in attendance. President Melody Weicker opened the meeting with the reading of “December.”

Joe Bednarik and Kathleen Valentine were added to the sick list, while returning member Irma Leibensperger was given a warm welcome.

The Christmas party is scheduled for Dec. 13, starting at noon, at the YMCA. Snow date will be Dec. 14.

November and December birthdays will be celebrated at the Dec. 20 meeting.

Brown bag lunches will begin in the new year.

The group is open to anyone 55 or older, meeting at 1 p.m. every Thursday at the YMCA.

Primitive Methodist

Pastor Rick Clemson will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in American Primitive Methodist Church. The service will include the children’s program and will be followed by a Christmas dinner.

Hope in the Mountains, a Nar-Anon Family Group, meetings are held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays.

The Christmas Eve service will be celebrated at 7 p.m. on Dec. 24.
