Library news
The Tamaqua Public Library’s young adult program meets the third Monday of each month. The next session will be at 6 p.m. on Jan. 21, when the discussion will center on “Musicals.”
The library is located at 30 S. Railroad St. For more information on any library event, call 570-668-4660.
Regular library hours are: Monday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Tuesday and Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Friday, noon to 5 p.m.; and Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Electronic recycling
Tamaqua Borough has a new electronic recycling program for residents in response to new regulations that ban placing those items out for regular trash collection. There are disposal fees attached to the program and a limit of three items per household per month. The disposal fees are $5 for one item, $8 for two items and $10 for three items.
Electronic devices that will be accepted include desktop computers, laptops, monitors, televisions and computer peripherals such as keyboards, printers, mice or other devices connected to a computer.
This is a drop-off program, so items must be transported to the drop-off site by first contacting someone at borough hall.

Diaper depot
Zion’s diaper ministry is now accepting applications for the Jan. 19 distribution date. The free ministry is open to families residing within the Tamaqua Area School District.
Proof of residency, but not financial status, photo identification and preregistration are required.

St. Peter’s
The Rev. Rashion Santiago will officiate at the 9 a.m. worship service this Sunday at St. Peter’s West Penn Church, Mantzville.
Also on Sunday, Sunday school classes will meet at 10:15 a.m.; junior choir rehearsal is at 11 a.m.; Sunday school teachers and officers luncheon at noon; Girl Scouts meet at 6 p.m.
Activities for next week include: Tuesday, annual reports due, prayer group meets at 5 p.m., Women of St. Peters meet at 7 p.m.; Wednesday, Confirmation class is at 5 p.m.; Thursday, senior choir practice is at 7:30 p.m.
The church board will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 20.
Calvary Lewistown
Pastor Susan Moore will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Calvary Evangelical Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley. The service will include installation of church officers for 2019 and special music.
Also on Sunday, an evening service, featuring the Max Lucado series, will be held at 6:30 p.m.
A prayer meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Jan. 16.
