VFW meeting change
VFW Post 5069 will meet at Leiby’s at 11 a.m. on July 20. All members and one guest are welcome.
Tamaqua seniors
The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met July 11 at the Tamaqua YMCA with 56 members in attendance. President Melody Weicker opened the meeting with the reading “Just Give Me Love.” Member Eleanor Schmerfeld was welcomed back.
The group is open to anyone 55 or older, meeting at 1 p.m. every Thursday at the YMCA. The next meeting will be held on July 18.
Baby food ministry
Saint Vincent de Paul of Saint John XXIII Baby Food Ministry registration is underway.
Free baby food will be given for babies from birth to 1 year at the Church Hall, 307 Pine St., Tamaqua, on the third Saturday of the month from 9 to 11 a.m. by appointment only.
Registration is required at least three days before distribution online at tamaquasvdp@outlook.com or by phone at 570-225-8620 from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday.
This is open to residents of the Tamaqua Area School District, or members of Saint John XXIII Parish.
Summer concert
Classic rock from Maury Rutch’s band Shellshocked Churchills is up next on the summer concert series at the Tamaqua Train Station. There is a concert every Thursday beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The July 18 concert is sponsored by the Schuylkill County Visitors’ Bureau.
The Summer Concert Series is a function of the Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce. Please do not contact the Train Station Restaurant or The Station Creamery.
Bethany EC
Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 8 and 10:30 a.m. worship services this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Sunday school classes meet at 9:15 a.m.
Activities for the week include: July 22, Celebrate Recovery at 6:30 p.m.; July 24, Worship practice at 7 p.m.; July 26, R.E.A.L. Women’s Iron Pigs game at 7 p.m.; July 27, 1 p.m. Millennial Group kayaking.
