VFW Meeting

Andreas VFW Post 5069 will meet at 7 p.m. on July 10 at West Penn Park.

They are also holding a lunch at Leiby’s at 11 a.m. on July 13. Member and one guest are invited.

Tamaqua seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met June 27 at the Tamaqua YMCA with 49 members in attendance. President Melody Weicker opened the meeting with the reading of “God and Nature.”

The holiday picnic was a great success due to everyone who made a contribution. The July Fourth holiday was celebrated and thanks was given for our country’s freedom.

There will not be a meeting this week due to the July Fourth holiday.

The group is open to anyone 55 or older, meeting at 1 p.m. every Thursday at the YMCA. The next meeting will be held on July 11.

Baby food ministry

Saint Vincent de Paul of Saint John XXIII Baby Food Ministry registration is underway.

Free baby food will be given for babies from birth to 1 year at the Church Hall, 307 Pine St., Tamaqua, on the third Saturday of the month from 9 to 11 a.m. by appointment only.

Registration is required at least three days before distribution online at tamaquasvdp@outlook.com or by phone at 570-225-8620 from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday.

This is open to residents of the Tamaqua Area School District, or members of Saint John XXIII Parish.

Bethany EC

The Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 8 and 10:30 a.m. worship services this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Sunday school classes are held at 9:15 a.m.

Activities for the week include: July 8, Celebrate Recovery, at 6:30 p.m.; July 10, TYM Remix at 6:30 p.m., Worship practice at 8 p.m.; July 11 Hometown Nursing Home at 10 a.m., Coffee and Conversation, 7 p.m. at Home & Coffee, 137 Pine St.; July 13, 9 a.m. NAMM-Hawk Mountain Trail.

Primitive Methodist

Pastor Rick Clemson will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service with communion. Sunday school classes are held at 9:30 a.m.

Hope in the Mountains meetings are held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays. This is a Nar-Anon Family Group. For more information, call 570-952-5098. July 7 at 6:30 p.m., Hometown Nursing Center service; July 10 at 7 p.m., trustee board meeting.
