Garden club
The Lewistown Valley Garden Club met for its annual dinner meeting on Oct. 22 at the Zion Church Social Hall.
Dinner was enjoyed as well as a program on medicinal herbs and homegrown herbs presented by Mary Noon of the Schuylkill Herb Society.
The November meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in the social hall. There will be a craft program by Louise Flexer; the arrangement to be judged will be chrysanthemum in a fall container.
New members are always welcome.

Bethany EC
The Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. worship services this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Life Groups meet at 9:30 a.m. There will be a meal with Brian and Missy Wagner at noon.
Activities for the next week include: Nov. 18, Women’s step study at 5:30 p.m., Men’s step study at 5:45 p.m. and Celebrate recovery at 6:30 p.m.; Nov. 20, TYM Remix at 6:30 p.m., GriefShare at 7 p.m., Worship practice at 8 p.m.; Nov. 22, Emotions Life group, 6 p.m., 43 Maple Drive, Jim Thorpe; Nov. 23 R.E.A.L. St. John Lutheran
The Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. Sunday service in St. John’s Lutheran Church.
A congregational meeting will be held immediately following the service.
It is also the last day to order pumpkin rolls for Thanksgiving.
Activities for the next week include: Nov. 21 constitution meeting at 3:30 p.m., Angel choir at 6 p.m., Shepherd Choir at 6:30 p.m., property meeting at 7 p.m., Chancel Choir at 7:30 p.m. Bell practice will be held at 8 a.m. on Nov. 24.
Zion Lewistown
Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. service this Sunday at Zion Church Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:15 a.m.
Setup for candy making will be at 9 a.m. on Saturday in the social hall. All help appreciated for the chocolate-covered pretzels. The schedule starts on Nov. 18. Morning sessions are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and evening sessions from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and only mornings on Fridays.
Calvary Lewistown
The Rev. Susan Moore will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Calvary Evangelical Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley. Sunday school classes are held at 9:15 a.m. Evening praise and worship will be at 6:30 p.m.
Prayer meeting service at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Call 570-668-9111 to place prayer requests or praise before 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
Nov. 24 at 6:30 p.m. annual Harvest and Thanksgiving service. Refreshments to follow.
