Tamaqua Seniors
The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met Nov. 21 at the Tamaqua YMCA with 48 members in attendance. President Melody Weicker opened the meeting with the reading “Priceless Treasures.”
There will be no meeting on Nov. 28 due to the Thanksgiving holiday. The group Christmas party will be held on Dec. 12. After Dec. 12 there will be no meeting until Jan. 9, 2020. Brown bag lunch until further notice.
The group is open to anyone 55 or older, meeting at 1 p.m. every Thursday at the YMCA. The next meeting will be held on Dec. 5.
Advent breakfast
Tamaqua Advent Breakfast ticket deadline is Dec. 1.
The breakfast is Dec. 7, beginning at 9 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church at the corner of Mauch Chunk and Greenwood streets.
Tickets are available from each congregation’s Tamaqua Area Faith Fellowship Network representative or church office. Tickets will also be available at the Tamaqua Community Art Center or by calling 570-668-4451.
Richard Hadesty, Tamaqua Citizen of the Year, will deliver the Advent message. Carol Tempest is this year’s musical guest.
The breakfast features a special candlelighting ceremony and is sponsored by TAFFN, the Tamaqua Area Ministerial Association, the Tamaqua Community Partnership and the Tamaqua Chamber of Commerce and hosted by the Culinary Crew at Zion Lutheran Church.
TAFFN is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization under the umbrella of the Tamaqua Area Community Partnership.
St. John Lutheran
The Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. Sunday service with Holy Communion St. John’s Lutheran Church. Sunday school/Confirmation is held at 10:30 a.m.
Worship and music Monday at 11:30 a.m. Bell practice at 8 a.m. Dec. 8.
Regular office hours are Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Primitive Methodist
Pastor Rick Clemsons will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in American Primitive Methodist Church. Sunday school classes are held at 9:30 a.m.
Every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Hope in the Mountains, a Nar-Anon Family Group, meets at 57 Hunter St. If you have questions or are interested in attending these meetings, contact Mark at 570-952-5098.
Calvary Lewistown
The Rev. Susan Moore will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Calvary Evangelical Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley. Sunday school classes are held at 9:15 a.m. Evening praise and Bible study is held at 6:30 p.m.
Prayer meeting service at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Call 570-668-9111 to place prayer requests or praise before 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
Annual church Christmas party will be held on Dec. 15 following the morning worship service. Blue Christmas service is at 7 p.m. Dec. 19.
Bethany EC
The Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. worship services this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Sunday life groups meet at 9:30 a.m. Kitchen and Social, Local Outreach and Operations Commission meetings will be held at noon.
