Rush-Ryan seniors

The Rush-Ryan-Delano Senior Citizens met Oct. 9 at the Ryan Township Fire Company with 43 members in attendance. President Robert Neifert conducted the business session, opening the meeting with the invocation “Autumn.”

Larry Bower and Helen Trimmel were added to the sick list. Warm welcomes were extended to new member Fred Herb and returning member Nancy Eisley.

Birthday wishes were offered to Carol Sedlock and Shirley Kaiser. Gloria Gerhard made Halloween treats which were given to members in attendance.

The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at the Ryan Township Fire Company in Barnesville and is open to anyone 55 or older.

Bloodmobile

An American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be held in Tamaqua on Oct. 19 at the Tamaqua YMCA. Hours will be from 1 to 6 p.m.

Anyone 17 or older, who weighs at least 110 pounds and is in good general health is eligible to donate the “gift of life.”

Walk-ins are welcome, but to cut down or wait time, donors may schedule an appointment by calling 800-733-2767 or go online at www.redcrossblood.org.

The Y is located at 1201 E. Broad St.

Veterans Day

The Tamaqua Area Middle and Senior High Schools will observe Veterans Day with a brief assembly at 7:25 a.m. on Nov. 9. Participants will meet at the flagpole in front of the senior high.

Any veteran from the Tamaqua area who would like to be recognized during the roll call of veterans should contact Tara Orefice, assistant high school principal, at 570-668-1901 before Nov. 5.

The public is welcome to attend the ceremony.

Primitive Methodist

Pastor Rick Clemson will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Remembrance Sunday in American Primitive Methodist Church. Sunday school classes are held at 9:30 a.m.

Hope in the Mountains, a Nar-Anon Family Group, holds meetings from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays.

St. Peter’s Union

The Rev. Virginia Heimer will officiate at the 9 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. Peter’s Church in West Penn. Sunday school classes meet at 10:15 a.m.

Also this Sunday, the junior choir will rehearse at 11 a.m. and Girl Scouts will meet at 6 p.m.

Next week’s activities include: Monday, play rehearsal at 6 p.m.; Tuesday, prayer group meets at 5 p.m.; Wednesday, Confirmation class meets at 5 p.m.; Thursday, senior choir rehearses at 7:30 p.m.

Reformation Sunday will be celebrated on Oct. 28.

St. John Lutheran

The Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. Sunday service in St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Also on Sunday, the bell choir will rehearse at 8 a.m., Sunday school and Confirmation classes will meet at 10:30 a.m.

The choirs rehearse on Thursdays: angel choir at 6 p.m.; shepherd choir at 6:30 p.m.; and chancel choir at 7:30 p.m.
