Veterans Day

Tamaqua American Legion Post 173 will host Tamaqua’s annual Veterans Day Parade on Nov. 10. The parade will form at the east end of Tamaqua, then head west on Broad Street at 10 a.m., dispersing in the area of Lehigh Street.

This year’s grand marshal will be Frank Walton, who has been a member of the Tamaqua Legion for 23 years.

Leading the parade will be the Tamaqua American Legion Color Guard.

Following the parade, a brief service will be held in front of the Legion post at 206 W. Broad St.

Parking will be banned along the parade route.

Tamaqua seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met Oct. 18 at the Tamaqua YMCA with 51 members in attendance. Jim Sands was added to the sick list, while Dee Neifert and Jean Machamer were welcomed back.

September and October birthdays were celebrated, honoring Rose Vallee, Ruthann Feane, Jane Tartar, Joyce Krell, Shirley Kaiser and Darlene Skasko.

Refreshments were served.

The group is open to anyone 55 or older, meeting at 1 p.m. every Thursday at the YMCA. The meeting for Oct. 25 has been canceled.

Primitive Methodist

Pastor Rick Clemson will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in American Primitive Methodist Church. Sunday school classes are held at 9:30 a.m.

Hope in the Mountains NFG meetings are held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays.

Bethany EC

The Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 8 and 10:30 a.m. worship services this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Sunday school classes meet at 9:15 a.m.

Also on Sunday, the ministry council will meet at 11:45 a.m.

Activities for the next week include: Monday, Celebrate Recovery women’s training at 5 p.m., Celebrate Recovery men’s training at 5:15 p.m., Celebrate Recovery meets at 6:30 p.m.; Tuesday, airbrush painting group meets at 7 p.m.; Wednesday, Bible study at 1 p.m., TYM Remix meets at 6:30 p.m., GriefShare meets at 7 p.m., worship practice is at 8 p.m.; Thursday, membership matters committee meets at 7 p.m., coffee and conversation at 7 p.m., women’s group meets at 7 p.m.
